Engobe is used in ceramics as a decorative and protective coating applied to a green or leathery-dry clay body (a clay piece before firing). It is a liquid clay mass with added pigments that, after firing, imparts a uniform color and a matte or slightly silky surface to the piece. A warm, rich color with a subtle metallic sheen. Suitable for creating natural, earthy effects on the surface of a piece.
